I have owned the Complete Jack Johnson for ages.. But I can finally say I am playing it and enjoying it.
Just played the complete Seven Steps, then the new (old) 1967 Concert bootleg recently officially released.
I felt eventually i would grow up enough to enjoy the later Miles Davis..
Glad i have them.

and The Complete Jack Johnson shows there was a LOT more going on than just that.
I've found The "Complete" series they've been doing of his material to be priceless.
Great sound, packaging, notes, et al. CBS has treated the material with the respect it deserves.
I'm frequently torn between "Bitches Brew" and "IASW" as favorites in that series.
The "bootleg" series (ala Bob Dylan) is off to a good start.
We'll have plenty of "new" MD to listen to for the rest of our days.
i put it away for about 5 years and when i replayed it, it made more sense as i was listening with a more open mind. the video 'electric miles' helped a lot.

Maybe in another 5 years ;) BTW, you didn't actually say you enjoyed it, only that it made more sense to you.
i DO enjoy parts of it, for instance, its the beginnings of weather report-mile runs the voodoo down. yes, the music takes a different turn and its not for everybody.

… but I have had the original LP for the past 18-24 months.
The first time I played it, I thought, “For me, THIS is by far the highest achievement from Miles's entire Fusion period. Period."
I still feel the same way.
I bought “Big Fun” when it came out. Other than the short trumpet theme in “Lonely Fires,” I found little that really grabbed me. “Bitches Brew” hit me similarly.
But “A Tribute to Jack Johnson” – very very fine stuff. Think I’ll give ’er a spin this weekend.
Owned the single disc for many years and it's still one of my favorite plays for long road trips.
.
Can you tell which tracks were on the original release and which weren't?
If so, what differences are there between them?
Interesting stuff.
