Michael,Thanks for the info. Basically someone is offering me a pair of used 3.5s for the price of a pair of new 1.6s. So I really want to make the right choice here. I am currently using a pair of Tympani IVas that I will have to get rid of eventually (no space in my new home), I want something that will sound the closest to the Tympani's. As for power, I have a Classe CA300 amp that does 600W at 4 Ohm. So I think I have enough to drive either the 3.5s or 1.6s.

My money is on the 1.6, sorry Mike K :)Best bet is if you can listen to both first.

I bought a pair used 3.5s for $1250 and have *not* regretted it.
That ribbon tweet is really incredible. You wont regret it.Mike
Wow, that's a real good price for a pair of used 3.5s. This guy is offering me his for around $1900..... Maybe I should take another look first...
Many of us prefer 1.6's over the current 3.6. I realize it's subjective and only you can determine what sound suits you.
A pair of 3.5s in good condition for $1900 is reasonable. Of
course you should offer less and see if you can get the price
down somewhat. I just happened to get an *extremely* good deal
from a motivated seller, and I would have hocked my firstborn
(well, my favorite dog anyway) to buy those speakers at that
price.Do the comparison betweent the 1.6 and the 3.5 and I think
the 3.5 will win every time.Mike
