Return to Planar Speaker Asylum
98.177.47.90
Ordered it last week; 3 cartons arrived in 2 days, then one the next day, and finally the 5th and last today, Tuesday the 26th.The system is easy to assemble, requiring only one person and one allen/hex wrench (included).. The workmanship of the bass cabinets is excellent, and the veneer is attractive.
I took a chance that my Atma-Sphere 60-into-eight M60s had enough power, and they do, at least with this brief exposure.. Bought a new pair of PS Audio M700s to drive the woofers, and so far they seem excellent.
The biggest difference in sound? Bottom-octave bass is significantly more extended than the open-baffle bass of my Serenity Super-7s.. The e-panels MIGHT be slightly more resolving, but it's still early.. All of today's listening has been with no frequency tuning other than balancing the bass levels with the MR/treble levels by ear.. Tomorrow I'll do an automated FR correction, correct that with advice from Mr. Sanders, and then do a slight HF rolloff, as the panels pointed directly at my face are a little 'hot'.

...about 2 days after he received the 5 cartons, and I received it Tuesday.. I wish all hi-end bulders and retailers would be as quick, friendly, and helpful as he is.
ThANK YOU VERY MUCH, Roger!
...who was VERY helpful and pleasant throughout the process.
Here's what the backend looks like now.. Have ordered a wide, two-high stand for all this stuff (and more!), so don't have the amps on their granite pads.
Am about to order a pair of Allnic A-6000 amps.. These are fairly rare--mine will be coming from England!--superb-sounding single-ended amps using four (!) 300Bs in parallel for 60 Watts per chassis if using a particular 300B or 50 Watts if not.. These come HIGHLY recommended by my audio guru.. Will be converting a couple unused 120V. branch circuits into a single 240V. line (see link below).. Also have a bunch of AudioQuest Fog Lifter cable lifters coming, which I'll use on powercords first.. Have also ordered some different, inexpensive vibration-absorbing equipment feet coming; more later on both those.

Good move! Just a pity we cannot hear these products in person before purchase...May the 'chase' continue!
While sounding excellent sometimes, they just weren't good enough to better the 7s.
Yup they didn't do it for me as well. Good but not wonderful. I've tried Sound Lab 545's as well and still didn't make me want to listen for hours and hours. But my stand mount Colibri Electrum S well it puts a smile on my face daily 😀
Yup; that's what the S7s do for me.. I've found a new spot for them, maybe 1-1/2 feet closer to the listener and about a foot (total) closer to each other.
This position prevents me from swinging the screen up and out of the way, but that's OK.. The cartons and woofers are what's left of the Sanders 10Es.. I have only the woofers left to pack, and this chubby oldfart is tired!
...I tired of the 10s' harsh treble and reinstalled the Serenity Super7s, of course w/o the electronic filter.. Results were less-harsh treble*, a slightly warmer tonal balance which I love**, and bass that is both less-extended in the last octave and better defined overall.. Hmm...Today I'm reinstalling the 10s, but this time I'll continue to use my somewhat-improved, super-sounding Atma-Sphere 140Watt M-1s.. Will rebalance the system and hear what happens. More later.
* Recall that my ears have poor response to treble and that I wear hearingaids.
** and I had already added a 3dB 'warmth' boost to the 10s with the dbs system.

My view on sanders speakers are is that they are very revealing. Very 'clear' with that fast stat sound. I would never call them warm or having highs rolled off. I would guess the atmasphere is going to be more in line w what you want w them. Let us know.
Don't think more break-in is needed. I also couldn't get the top end smooth enough or overall sound engaging. The speakers are good but not my cup of coffee!
Good luck and keep us posted
I owned the Sanders 10e speakers for over 10 months and while good they just didn't wow me. They didn't have the wow factor that others had and even though they had pin-point imagining you had to really be in the center and stay focused. Also I spend more $$$ on cables than the speakers! You needed 2 sets of speaker cables, an extra XLR cable and seeral ac cords.
I hope you get along with them better than I did.
I must say I'm disappointed with mine so far, but we'll see how I feel after about 300 hours of burn-in.
Correct sold them after roughly 9-10 months, just couldn't get them to sing like some other speakers.
Hope you find them better after some break-in.
The combination of speakers that use stretched-plastic diaphragms and amps with Teflon-film caps--and not used for months before I received them--is sometimes tough to listen to while both are burning-in.. The bass still sounds GREAT, but the sounds from the panels are, at different times, course, hard, 'swimmy', veiled, etc.. I'm told it'll take at maybe 300 hours to sound good.
Meanwhile I've finally equipped my Bosch DLR130 Distance Measurer with an Arca-Swiss tripod plate that aligns the rotational center of the device with the line of the lazer, all of which eliminates its paralax error.. Mounted on my foto tripod, it now enables repeatable distance measurements to plus-or-minus 1/16", and I've managed to set the speaker distances to within 1/16" and get the speakers' toe-in and vertical tilt right where they should be.
I still have my Serenity Super-7s and wish I were listening to THEM, but another 1-1/2 weeks (c. 225 hours) on the 10Es ought to show me how good they can sound.
Still fantasizing about different poweramps.. My goals are excellent-sounding monoamps* with at least 60 Watts, all triode vacuumtubes, fully balanced with XLR inputs of course, and affordable**.. OH WAIT--I already have a pair in the Atma-Sphere M-60s!! Seriously now, I'm looking for a pair of Allnic A-6000s; they're built using FOUR 300Bs in parallel for 50 watts of power (or 60 with Emission Labs 300B XLSs), Permalloy transformer cores, and a low-winds-ratio output transformer.. Since I have a 240VAC branch circuit in the house close to the musicroom, I'm considering two pairs now in England and Singapore(!!).. I know--I'm crazy!
* When the audio world starts using 'stereoblock' to describe a 2-channel amp, I MIGHT start using 'monoblock' to describe a single-channel amp.
** That term is rather vague, but it's my money, so I understand it.
I'm a little surprised on the breakin of the panel. I'm assuming you are using the ps audio for bass duties and the tubes up top? Does this model come w an external crossover ? I've heard them in a small room and they sound swell. I used to own Logan's and now Maggies.
Yes, the Atma-Spheres drive the panels and the M700s drive the woofers.
Yes, a dbx DriveRack VENU360, which processes at 96/24.
The system sounds slightly less harsh today compared with how it sounded yesterday; I think there's hope! It's burning-in about 150 hours per week.
Received and installed new ICs made by Sonic Craft with Neotec NEI-2001 cable containing double-triple solid pure-silver conductors in Teflon, etc., plus Neotec Gold Series UP-OCC XLR connectors. The bass-system IC is inexpensive AudioQuest RedRiver..
Have ordered from Audio Advisor a Salamander-brand 4-column Salamander Synergy Quad 10 Base cabinet to get all my backend electronics off the floor.. Might use AudioQuest's SorboGel Q-Feet system for isolation/ absorbtion under some devices.. Already have IsoAcoustics OREA footers for the poweramps.
Am still looking for a pair of Allnic A-6000 poweramps.
They use the Sanders speakers in their demo room.
Personally, I prefer TL bass to OB bass.
Can you buy the 10e system without the Magtech amp? (with discount)
...he'll absorb the shipping charges, and if you e-mail him a copy of the check, he'll ship ASAP and NOT wait for receipt of your physical check.
and one of the finest speaker systems I have ever auditioned.
Roger used to offer a $500 discount to Planar Asylum members and MLO (Martin Logan Owners) group on large ticket items (e.g. amps, speakers).

I mean the $20,000 system includes one Magtech amp, which sells for $7000 if bought separately. I was wondering if Sanders Sound has the option to buy the system without the Magtech amp for lower system price.. Many of us already have good amps laying around we could use for bass.
$7K, OUCH !!! I bought mine for $4,500 new with the discount.
