I took my mic and REW over to a friend's place the other day, to check his FR was acceptable.
He runs T-1Ds, actively driven using a miniDSP 8x8 to provide the 6dB XO and some room correction. He's using a pair of 150w ss stereo amps on the bass panels (one amp channel driving each bass panel) plus an additional stereo amp for the tweeter panels.
He's nearly blind - so I am his "tech specialist" ... I had set up the system a few years ago and, having improved my use of REW on my own system in the meantime, thought I might have another look at his ... to see whether I could improve his FR in any way.
When I did the first sweep, I was surprised to see there was a pronounced droop in the FR from about 600Hz downwards. I was able to correct this using EQ in the miniDSP plug-in ... but I was wondering whether anything could be wrong with the T-1Ds, to have caused this loss of the lower frequencies produced by the bass panels?
Any suggestions, anybody?
All 6 panels of the T-1Ds were re-wired by the Oz importer about 8 years ago - so I doubt that any delam has occurred.

I am afraid I am of no use, mate. If I read your post correctly, it is like you have a HP filter (series cap) on the bass, which obviously does not make a lot of sense. Since what you describe is on both bass channels it probably is not a problem with the speakers or amplifiers. The only shared component is the mini-DSP but I have no clue as to what is wrong. I would suggest your friend should offer some burnt sacrifice to the audio gods and pray for forgiveness for whatever transgression he may have committed in this life or the last.

Haha - I'm sure David has committed many audio sins. :-))
I 'solved' the issue by applying EQ in the miniDSP - so it is sounding marvellous.

Still curious of what that bass response looked like. "A drop from 600 Hz downwards" is a bit strange. Maybe an acoustic mismatch?
Any chance of cold solder joints to the bass panels? Can you bypass the internal xover parts and see what bass extension you get?
Andy's friend use a miniDSP in place of the internal crossover. The jumpers between the panels can corrode.

Andy, that is strange. I suggest checking the settings of the miniDSP, it is easy to do mistakes there.
Strange indeed, Roger! :-((But the XO that I set is very simple:
* 6dB BW slopes
* LP @ 900Hz
* HP @ 1000Hz.Nothing that would cause a drop-off from 600Hz, downwards.

Just do a reset and start from the beginning. I have done mistakes several times. I would also try some other slopes and frequencies. Why not a lower crossover frequency? It could improve imaging.
I just copied the stock T-1D XO, Roger. :-)) (Very simple.)

If you run the basses without any crossover. Is there any bass then?
.
Full bass or rolled off?
.
Strange with that rolled of bass. Even my very old basses worked until the wiring on the Mylar failed.
Andy, what kind of roll off is it? Are you sure all is okey in the rest of the amplifying chain?
