The OP listens ~80db.
I listen ~72db. (50w is plenty for that level)
These kinds of differences in personal "style" is the key.
And, why an appeal to "the absolute sound" still doesn't clarify things much. Some people like row H. Others like the balcony. HP always assumed there was a sweet spot in a live orchestra hall. But some people loathe Row H.
I knew a Row C person once. He was about what you would expect.

Occasionally all the seats in a hall were priced the same (even Carnegie). I never observed anyone making a mad dash to grab a seat in the balcony.
Exactly. Why would one? There's more of what those kind of listeners want than what those going for the floor want. Some find distance reassuring.
Scarcity behavior is different. It is almost like two different species. How do they meet? What do they do when they are not in the balcony?
It's a whole other world, up there.
