I've used my MGI IMP with amps ranging from 5W/CH (SEP) to 450 watts/ch. The only one that totally flunked the test was the 5 W?CH SEP. A creek 4330 at 40 W/CH was OK with a subwoofer, at the other extreme a Conrad Johnson MF 2300A at 450 W tested into 4 ohms did have a bit more drive and bass as expected. Surprisingly, I found a 60 W/CH Jolida tube amp with KT 150 tubes quite satisfying. If I remember correctly, Magnepan used to demo the speakers at shows with an Audio Reseach tube amp at around 60 W/CH so, yes 50/60 is quite sufficient. More power gets a bit more dynamic but certainly not necessary for satisfactory music making.
