just saw these on a popular social media site, man I would LOVE to build open baffle bass columns like that but I wouldn't know were to start electronically (in/out phase, XO settings etc.,).
Follow Ups:
Hopefully Magnepan is still pursuing the satellite concept they were demoing a couple of years ago. I know the concept was a flagship model (30.7 for condos), but with DSP class D plate amps becoming so capable and inexpensive, maybe trickle down will result in a subwoofer and or satellite product aimed at their core customers. All that heard it were pretty impressed and as I recall, the bass "towers" were not much bigger than a square foot of floor space and stood about 40 inches tall.

They're not that big!
Not exactly towers, but I use a pair of H-frame woofers with 2 12s facing opposite directions...driven at the moment by a pair of Red Dragon Audio Leviathans. Very satisfying down to about 18hz in my room. They do surprisingly well with whichever pair of Quads I have in the system.
look at linkwitz labs - great stuff here...
There's always the Rythmik servo OB subs... not sure they would work high enough in frequency to blend with the midrange of a 20.1, 3.6 or 3.7 though....
Science doesn't care what you believe.
Here is an image of someone's 20.1's from a now defunct website. His bass panels broke. Due to shipping costs for repairs, he replaced the bass panel frequencies with a line array of OB/Dipole drivers in an H-Frame and was pleased with the results combining the bass line array with the 20.1 midrange and ribbon tweeters.
GL,
Do you know what the size of the drivers are and what frequency range they are running ?
Hi Tim, there was no data given just the pic. I've been trying to find the original post on fb but I think it's since been removed.
These things sounded good with GT Audioworks speakers at CAF.
