Has anyone try the ribbon mounted backwards ???
If so, what was your observations (pluses/minuses) ?
TIA
Follow Ups:
The music just came out backwards! ;)
I am trying to decode the embedded messages in my old rock-n-roll albums. =)

You can more clearly hear any backmasking too. ;)
Looking at the output graphs, Audio Technica cartridges might not be the ones to use when the tweets are backwards with their high end bump.
You simply change the connections - what was the negative end of the ribbon (the bottom?) becomes the positive end.

Yes but did those that are listening to the music backwards do this or not and how did it affect the tunes?
you need to reverse its polarity ... otherwise you screw up the ribbon/mid crossover circuit (and it will sound baaad!).
Andy
The frequency response shown is for the tweeter only. If you flip the tweeters you must change the polarity of the them. Best done at the crossover.
The graph is showing the response at a distance of only 11 cm! At greater distances it is different.
Like Steve - it sounds fine to me. I did this with my hardwood frames because I didn't want the front sound to be diffracted by the horizontal bars on the ribbon cage.
If you do this, though, it's important to make sure the ribbon is in the same plane as the mylar belonging to the mid driver.

AndyR,
Thanks much. I read an old post of yours suggesting the idea, but hadn't found any followups.
As for Ribbon/Mylar alignments, it appears it would be easier to physically align the NEO8 and Ribbons if both of their flanges are flush mounted on the same side of the baffle vs opposite sides of the baffle.
.
In the original baffles there is a sort of waveguide due to the rails left and right of the ribbon which sits a bit deep in there. In theory, there will be some diffraction. On the back there is an almost flat surface around the ribbon (similar to andyr's baffles) and the ribbon itself sits just a few millimeters in there. I have measured the response from both sides and it differs.Red is from the front and the green from the back. Distance from the ribbon was 11 cm in both cases.

Interesting. Thanks for the post.
Too bad the 2 didn't average. =)
Mine are backwards. I don't have a comparative description. They sound fine to me.
