II am posting the link to the article that promoted using the Hegel H90 with the Magnepan LRS. First off I am not familar with Hegel so no bias for or against them. Second I have heard on the Magnepan User's group on Facebook, and here that the amplifiers were having problems with over heating and thought I would investigate.

Looks a little on the lightweight side to me, for Magnepan's anyway.
I own the Hegel H90 and the LRS, largely based upon the Audio Excellence review. Yes, in my experience, the H90 got super duper hot. When I touched the bottom of the chassis, it was scalding. The amp never entered protection mode. My solution was to buy an AC Infinity component fan on Amazon for $119. It's 17" wide, 1.5" tall, and 12" or so deep. The fan has a variety of temperature specific settings, and is fairly quiet. I don't notice it all during music playback.
The bottom of the Hegel that was once scalding, is now cool to the touch. I have the fan set to kick in a 85 degrees in the "SMART" mode. Works extremely well. Without the AC Infinity fan, I would consider running the H90 that hot as a mistake over the long run.
I also tried the LRS with the PS Audio S300. For me, the Hegel H90 was much better for the LRS. I am looking to upgrade to the H190.
I like to energize the room on some music. My LRS eat all 350 W at 4 ohms my amp has to offer. Yes I run a sub and roll the LRS' amp off with a high pass filter.

I have a Hegel H190 set up with LRS and Dual REL T/5i, pushing 250w @ 4ohms, unit runs warm after 3 hour listening sessions but not overly so. Considered the H95 but went with more power for the LRS.
I don't think it's a very smart idea to use something that low powered
to run a pair of LRS. I used a Rogue Audio Cronus Magnum II to run mine
for awhile, and thought I liked what I heard; then I bought a Stellar
stack from PS Audio and the difference was/is night and day. The Hegel
might work in a small room, but it won't work in a big room.
