Very interesting!
When I started using digitizing o'scopes to capture Lightning waveforms for work I had to go to a sampling rate 10X the speed of the Lightning waveform (10 MHz sampling to capture a 1 MHz Lightning strike, etc.) to get a good shot of the waveform.

Nyquist doesn't apply to Lightning Strikes ??? =)
Here is what the IR looked like at different sampling rates. The plotted waveform gets more symmetric (less overshoot) as sample rate increases.

Yes, I have heard of Nyquist. His theorem however pertains to repetitive waveforms. Some of the waveform we run are repetitive, sort of, most are not.
