@Green Lantern Well done sir! Please make a thread to describe your impressions.
Happy New Year to all!
I am looking forward to a great year in audio.
In May of 2019 I purchased a Pass Labs X250.5. Almost a year ago I purchased a Pass Labs XP-20. Both sat in a box from the time of purchase until last Saturday as I had no place to set the up.
I should be able to pick up my speakers and turntable and have my system running later this month. It has been more than five years since I built my turntable and Pass Pearl II phono pre. Finally I get to put it all together.
happy New Year!
Happy Listening
Same to you and all the crew here!
I'm stoked starting the New Year with a modified system line up:
Replaced my Adcom GFP-750 with a Audio Research LS26 tube preamp and all my cabling with Cardas cables.
I'm waiting for a Musical Fidelity M1 DAC to arrive for my Logitec squeezebox streamer.
But the heart of the system of course is the Audio Research; my speakers as massive as they are become oblivious as they disappear. Cymbal trails and decay are incredible.
It challenges the very notion that the rear waves are even hitting the back wall because the instruments and musicians are arranged half way between the rear wall and the speakers as if they've been there all along.
They say this is their 'mid level' tube preamp, I hope to God I never hear their high end units- I can't afford to!
