seems that no other speaker has generated as much talk and hype
- true or falsehood ?
Follow Ups:
I predict that when the Bass module for the 30.7 for Condo's is released, that will become the most talked about Maggie of all time!
Why, because it fixes Maggies problems(mostly)with bass and EveryOne will be wanting one for their Maggie system. People will also have a ton of questions on how to intergrate a pair into their system.
In 1990 Stereophile ran a reader survey sent to 40000 subscribers and Magnepan was owned by 5 % and the top high end speaker..
A big seller was the MG IIIa at that time.
They sold thousands of pairs.
We tend to forget the Classics after the years past.
I still use a mint pair from 1987 in my home theater.
With the largest bass panel of any 6 foot Maggie they still put out the lowest bass of any 6 footer IMO.
They cost $1995.
I also have the 3.6 in my main system and love the midrange.
My guess is either the Quad 57 or the LS3/5a simply because they've been hot subjects for so long 7 and 8 decades respectively. And the LS3/5a may be in first because it becomes a hot topic every time there is anew manufacturer which seem to happen every few years. There must be well over 10 companies that made LS3/5a's.
including the LRS.

never connected with the ads of him in the long white lab coats... to me it showed a guy who's afraid to roll up his sleeves and get down and dirty (like my man Wendell)!
I felt the same way when I saw the ads!
And there sure were a lot of them.
Cheers!

I think a little big/long picture perspective would be appropriate.
I doubt the LRS is even in the Top 50 of most talked about speakers of all time. In fact, I think Magnepan probably has 2-3 speakers more talked about.
Numerous other speakers pop to my mind immediately. Klipschorn, Advent, AR3, 901, Quad, etc, etc. The list is extremely long.
Dave.
In several ways, and importantly size and price, credit has to be given to the MMG. Discussion (right here in the asylum) of its many mods plus 'Gunning' might be right up there. Of course the MMG was around for a long time. The 30.7 is rather unique, has any other speaker ever gone on tour?
- Bose 901most discussed review wise (in no particular order):
Original Advent
B&W 801 matrix,
Infinity IRS

that are not suppose to be.
You did see that the LRS was panned completely by audio science review...
And looked completely awful in the spinorama...

I think the LS 50 is right there.
Gsquared
Rogers, Spika, ESL57... there are a few. As of late, it is definitely highly discussed!
