Hi Mates I may have a chance to pick up some MG 3a's in mint condition, Is it possible to wire the bass section in series to my MG2b,s ? as I like the bass output from them, or just paralel both ? Thanks Al
Follow Ups:
The MG IIIas are vastly superior to the 2B.
And hold up very well to any six foot magnepan.
I presume you mean you like the bass output from your MG-2Bs?
Whatever bass you are getting from these ... will be bettered by the bass from MG-IIIas. So - as neo has posted - don't think about running them together.
Andy
Without giving too much thought to this, it should be pointed out that connecting the IIb either in parallel or in series is going to change the impedance and therefore crossover is going to be affected as is the output curve. Also if the drivers are in parallel the resultant impedance will be about 2.2 ohms which may severely strain your amplifier.
I married the perfect woman - the downside is that everything that goes wrong is my fault.
