I used a 3Bst to power my 3.5s back in the day, and I found it to be
harsh, dry, and sterile, even with a decent tubed preamp driving them. I
predict you will regret this purchase. I have not heard newer Brystons
so cannot comment.
If you have $2k to spend, look for a pair of used PS Audio M700s. They are
the anti-Bryston amp. I love mine.

thanks for the heads up, I'll give them a shot and let everyone know how they fare.I doubt I'll regret the purchase (unless he keeps the money and the amp never arrives lol). I got plans for another system in a different room and if that doesn't work out off they go...others are going for $900 online, I was able to get this one for $750.
thanks for the tip on the PS Audio M700, had I known I would have grabbed a pair but then again there aren't many around (that's here in the U.S.), but yes, I will DEFINITELY keep those in mind.
