There are two grill cloths. The black one you see from the back is a "sock". The other one at the front is not. I have an instruction somewhere how to replace the one at the front. I think the black sock is there to limit the see-through of the front grill. Most speaker grill fabrics use to reduce the highest frequencies. Older Magnepan with the "burlap" fabric only had one layer of grills, just a "bag" held by many staples top and bottom.

Thank you for the tips. Did you make the new socks smaller than the panels then stretch them to fit over the speakers? What fabric did you use?
Someone has mentioned that Spandex is also good for Maggie socks also.
Sorry, the previous reply was meant for Stephen.
Thank you for the description of the sock and the front cover. So....there are 2 layers, would that affect the HF adversely?
I appreciate your offer to share the document. I'd like to receive the instruction if you can email to me or share on here.
