What's the power consumption of ESL-57s? I know the original destruction manual says power consumption is "negligible" but I had this honking great power bill last month (first in a new house) and I am desperately looking for someone/thing to blame (or at least to stop the wife from casting aspersions in the ESLs' direction)
Follow Ups:
Using a Kill A Watt power meter, the wattage on my Quad ESL-57 read 0 watts. Of course that can't be strictly true, but you get the idea. Using the same meter, I got 14 watts for a Garrard 301 turntable, which is spec'd at 16 watts power consumption, so it's probably no more than 1-2 watts.
I read somewhere (maybe the Quad Musikwiedergabe site?) that the consumption is similar to that of a TV set on standby?...hope this info is of use with your wife!
The current ESL-2805 has a specified power consumption of 6W. I believe the ESL-57's is less.
No big power bills in my case, despite ESL-57's. You should blame something else, not the 57's. Their power consumption *is* negligible, imho.
