Here's a REAL Odd One. Never seen it before. Never heard of it, either.
Clues? RH drive, so not 'native' North American Market. Fixed type convertible.
Odd styling.....but not 50s or 60s? Looks sort of cramped. This is a very nicely presented example of SOMETHING, I'm sure.
First correct answer wins NOTHING but bragging rights......I will publish the deal breaker / solution photo LAST. This looks like something Colombo would drive, but isn't.....

Follow Ups:
and they were big car importers.
Skylines, Nissan pickups and those. Two at one time even.

They are cute as.
We got a few of them driving around here.
Cute little ladies town car, or little wannabe sports.

I kind of like the retro refrigerator look ;-)

OK shot of RH drivers position.

Spot ON you- two......
And according to the WIKI, they onlyl made about 20,000 of 'em in '91.
I NEVER would have got this. Doesn't quite look Italian. Or British. And certainly not German.

Classic old school Japanese ecclectic design - find all the cutest bits of classic Italian and English sports cars and distill them into a cute but kind of contrived whitegoods package ;-)

I should have known from the wheels, but got stuck in my first impression that it was some kind of obscure communist euro car. I had no clue, and was completely fooled, but was happy to play
You're actually closer than you thought. Substitute 'East' for 'West' Germany, and this little gem clearly influenced the stylist....the 'Gutbrod'!
That one blows me right away!
What a beauty!
So Nissan shouldn't have said "Inspired by ....".
More like "Shamelessly ripped off from ...!"

But at least it can't be said that it was shamelessly ripped off from the English or Italians, haha!Edit: and Nissan just mentioned nothing, not even inspired by! I do think the Figaro is a charmer though, would love to own one but they appreciate too quickly...

It isn't some East German stoneage peoples car.
It looks waaay more modern than many many others that hit the market in 1951.

Most of the rest you can see is robbed -
The grille - Bugeye Sprite
The Eyebrows - Mini / VW / almost anything 1940's-50's
Soft top - Fiat 500C
Boot lid exposed hinges - anything Brittish and old
Chrome trim - anything American and old
But the wheels?
I can't work out that one!

so, how much do people PAY for these? I don't care about 'worth' since it's not worth anything to me. And I imagine getting some parts must be just weird......Ordering from Japan, maybe? I'd be tempted to hire a translator to make sure I got the right stuff....and include photos with my request.
