Brazilian meat trough, Fogo de Chao. We're a small family and a turkey would mean endless meals of leftovers once "the kid" left. The clean up, anyhow, has gotten less and less attractive every year, anyhow. This way, it's eat and leave. Return home, prepare scrumptious dessert, have special wine, and chill out. Far less stress, too...
Follow Ups:
I can't stand making turkey. This is a 10 pound boneless pork cut in 2 to reduce the cook time. Have it set at 250, rubbed with fresh garlic and spices. Potatoes underneath will get crisp in the juices.
I will say the few times I ate there, I was impressed with Fogo. The self service "salad bar" alone is quite an accomplishment, and If I remember correctly a pretty good deal.

Weather was mild and I felt good during the run.
Not bad for someone almost on Medicare. :)
. . . where, as usual, we'll keep it vegetarian. We're teetotalers too, so no wine either at the restaurant or when we get home.

Lack of booze/meat/drugs explains your bizarre political bent.....and I DO mean bent. Your brain chemistry is way outta whack but I can help. Send me your address and I'll put a care package of beef ingested with THC and a bottle of Bulleit Rye in the mail to you. Chew on a nice 25g edible before you go to the restaurant. Its not too late to be cured.Meanwhile, have a great Thanksgiving! Kinda surprised you're not going to a Russian restaurant for some borscht and potatoes.

The Italian restaurant we ate at is DIRECTLY across the street from the Nordstrom's that got "flash looted" earlier this week.
As for the local Russian Restaurant (there's only one - it's called Babushka), it has transformed itself back into a deli/market due to Covid, and is no longer a restaurant.
in the 50 years I've lived in/near Manhattan I've never been to a Russian restaurant. Only ones I know of are in Brooklyn. Hey, my dad's parents emigrated from Russia. Maybe I'll check out a Russian joint sometime. Not that crazy about Borscht but I do love cabbage soup.
But watch out - Putin has put nano-trackers in the ingredients! ;-)
they're not hard to make ... so here's a recipe and Slavic babe

My daughter spends Thanksgiving with my ex and her parents, so turkey and all the trimmings at my house happens on Friday.
I clean as she cooks, so little left to do after dinner ...other than relax for a few hours before dessert.

reelsmith's axiom: Its going to be used equipment when I sell it, so it may as well be used equipment when I buy it.
She said that Thanksgiving was her busiest day of the year and there would be a line well out the door and a completely full dining room. I am a regular and she offered to hold a table for me, but I will be cooking a beautiful turkey, one not lucky enough to be pardoned, with candied ruby yams, green beans and salad.
Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow inmates, whatever is on the menu.

My wife made a large Kirkland smoked turkey last year. It tasted like candy. Never had a smoked turkey that tasted so well. She went back to Costco to buy more, but none were to be found.
This year she was able to score another Kirkland smoked turkey, but they were all the size of quails. Should know if it tastes as good as the last one tomorrow.

Much better to let some other cook and kitchen handle it, but no ...
I'm hooked up to an Italian from a large family. There are no family attendees usually, but once this tradition thing takes root, it ain't lettin' go. Tap root from here to Brooklyn.
Brillo is my friend.
so some ravioli's must be on the menu/
Nice, nice, nice.
I make sure there's LOTS of butter in the roasting pan.
I'd rather a heart attack from that than from too much pan scrubbin'.

I eschew turkey every chance I get.
Pretty much all other poultry is better than turkey. For christmas we'll have either goose or capon.
Going to visit my sister that does not cook for T-day. I'll probably have ribs. Much better than turkey out in my experience.

Maybe some ham, too.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
I'll be chewing, not eschewing. My favorite dinner of the year.
BillH Me too! Enjoy
