Follow Ups:
though closer to here in Noe Valley, Dolores Street is well planted with
big, older Palm trees that have been known to attract many a parrot.

I've seen this down here in SoCal.
I was walking the fire road over at the local 'rural' park.....I looked to where I'd be going and there
was a crowd of people with a garden hose. They were looking and squirting UP into a tree.
Apparently, a pet Parrot got away and decided to perch in a local tree. I investigated after thinking that either a Hawk or Crow or maybe an Owl would get this guy. But I found out he has company Many PETS have escaped and find the climate endurable. Maybe hot in summer, so they hide in the upper, cool branches. I don't think the one I saw wanted to go home any time soon.
No telling what else is out there....former pets now in a wild population....
