I've been coating the underside of my car with Fluid Film and it's clean.
But almost nobody else takes the time. The brine really plays hell with steel subframes, control arms, fuel and brake lines.
Some cars have places were road dirt collects. If it isn't flushed out regularly, it gets infused with salt and just destroys the car. The Mazda 3, at least the previous generations of Mazda 3 rust out in the rear wheel openings. It doesn't happen after only one or two winters but it does happen faster than most other cars. Not uncommon to see a 5-year old 3 with rust bubbling through the wheel arches.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Hi Old Dude,
Is the Fluid Film an amber goo that sticks like mad?
I first saw it about 30 years ago in spray cans from Texaco. Great stuff. Wife's Datsun got dinged on the leading edge of the fender peeling the paint off. Sprayed the stuff on and it was there months later. Zero rust.
Need to spray inside panels for best results.

There are a couple of other similar products on the market that are just as good. Blaster and WD-40 make them.
I generally shoot the stuff up inside the rockers and doors through the drain holes. In fact, it's that time of year again, though last year's shot is intact almost everywhere. I had the clutch replaced in July, the mechanic cleaned the engine cradle. That'll need to be re-shot. I want to get up around the fuel tank also. The tank itself is plastic, but I want to make sure I get the floor of the car above the tank.
Stuff really works. I did some work on the front suspension over the summer, not a single rusted or frozen fastener.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
