Like long term reliability, rust over the long haul is not taken into consideration in their rankings. For these reviews, it's all about initial impressions which isn't sufficient for those of us who keep our vehicles for more than a few years.

My brother's Mazda 6 was a nightmare.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Hi,
My Mazda 2 is 11 years old and not a spec of rust and I'm up near the Canadian border. Only one repair that I possibly could have had covered, but not worth the trip, time, and travel expense to get fixed.
Many Canadians have solved the rust problem by soaking doors, rocker panels, and wheel wells with used motor oil from the inside out. Messy but works. There are some commercial products that are thin enough to soak into the seams like the used oil.
My wife has a Honda Fit. Also a great little car but Honda discontinued it hoping to move customers up market $$$$$$.
Mazda 3 looks really good. Looking at the 2.5 liter Turbo myself.
