Pfizer is developing two drugs which are different from Ivermectin. They are from a class of drugs known as protease inhibitors which interfere with the replication of the virus by inhibiting protease enzymes. Drugs with similar activity are used to treat HIV and HepC.
IVM likely works by inhibiting binding of sars-cov2 to the ACE binding site on the surface of the cell.
New drug discovery is a very expensive process. Drug development is a crapshoot. Only about 15 percent of drugs that enter clinical trials make it to market. Like it or not only pharma, and a few universities have pockets deep enough to support such work.
Follow Ups:
There is some evidence that Ivermectin may be a protease inhibitor.
Denied facts are still facts.
There is "Some Evidence" that Ivermectin "May Be" a protease inhibitor.
"Some", "Maybe", Oh, that's good enough for me.
Oh My.
Denied facts are still facts.
Do I go to a veterinarian to know the dose to take ?
OK, I'm done .
: )
I think the equivalent porcine dosage by weight is recommended
as info, I've asked Tweaker countless times what his daily dosage is and ...
*crickets*
he advocates for something he's afraid of doing himself!
which is a bit perverse considering the contraindications of the drug
I don't think he holds other's well being in much regard anymore
stay well,
Levels of evidence
Randomized controlled trial> In-vitro data> In-silico modeling?> SWAG(scientific wild-assed guess)
In silico modeling is not wild ass guessing pretty much by definition. How many agents thrown up by this type of modeling turn out to be effective will be interesting to watch. Proof, certainly not, wild ass guessing, completely distorted, erroneous and twisted "thinking".EDIT: I misread batman's comments that did show in silico studies better than wild guesses so this post is null and void.
Denied facts are still facts.

Read again what I said.
Got it, my mistake.
Denied facts are still facts.
In particular, I've not set the start point at the discussion of Ivermectin.
