People are switching back to gas.... It was just a matter of time before people started to realize the pitfalls of EV only. I knew it was going to trend that way....

This seems odd considering essentially Level 2 charging at home can happen with any 240V outlet which the EPA notes most home owners already have. True, some installation service might be needed to install a charging station in your garage, but most homes are already capable. The EPA also notes that companies have increased workplace charging 70 percent (and growing) since 2014. The study didn't say why four out five EV owners stick to EVs, nor why it relied on some outdated data (there were only six EVs even available from OEMs in 2012, for example).
No, you don't automatically have a 240 volt plug laying in your garage, you most likely have to pay for it...-and only if you have not already used all breakers in the breaker panel. 240 for dryer and oven, nothing else.
You got it right. If there is 240V in the garage, it's for a dryer. You'd still have to pull another breaker if you used an electric dryer. At best, you have to move the location.

For the record, I have TWO 240V outlets in my garage.
OK, one is in case I decide not to use my gas dryer and go to electricity for cloths drying, but still...
Like there is no mention why 4 out of 5 don't switch back or why the 'research' relies heavily on data from 2012 and on and on....

And that's why 15 years from now, you want a new car, all you'll be able to get is an EV.

Probably time to quit driving at that point as reflexes are clearly diminished at that point. I refuse to buy one! They will have to drag my gas-powered car out of my driveway....

The rest of the world is going EV. The list of manufacturers committed to EV only production is growing weekly.
Manufacturers have to be chomping at the proverbial bit. Build a platform with a motor at each wheel (or only the front wheels or only the rear wheels) and you can make the car look like anything from a Porsche 911 to a Peterbuilt. Under the sheetmetal (or injection-molded plastic) they're all the same. Huge cost savings.
No issues with packaging either. VW's new ID looks like one of their dumbass SUVs but it doesn't have to. It could look like anything. Again, no engine to package. Motor at each wheel.
GM is one of the leaders in EV tech worldwide, by the way. In China, though, not the US. Low-cost, too, the kinds of EVs that would sell for less than $10K here.

I'm not on board with VAG's over-the-air subscription thing, though.
But the Microbus shows how EVs solve major packaging issues. One platform that can be scaled up and down as needed, manufactured worldwide, used under everything from a heavy duty pickup to one of those little commuter cars with 12-inch wheels that are highly popular in Asia.
Great way to save on production costs.
