Yeah I'm 60 and a guy passes me today on the last leg saying "you gonna let a 80 y/o guy pass you up?" as he sped off on his E-bike LoL....As far as the food goes I rode dozens of 50's the past two years w/o consuming anything-although I made sure I had a healthy meal the night prior including carbs and protein, now granted- those rides were in the Summer and I'd leave EARLY (sometimes 6:30am), returning home around 10:00am-11:00am.
Currently I don't ride until the Sun pops up around 9:00-10:00 to bring warmth-so yeah, in retrospect getting home that late (3:00 pm) w/o eating anything is dumb, will attack that approach next time.

50-60 miles would be around my limit on an empty stomach.
I do it regularly.
And it seems to be something that the more you do it, the better you get.
But don't over do it. I've "bonked" a couple of times to the point where my brain completely stopped working - I was riding in a fog, legs still turning over, but brain in neutral. Almost killed myself.
And it sneaks up on you!
Keep Your Hands Clean,

Yes agree, hell come to think of it when I did the century back in September I only ate a power bar and a banana or two!
