Kind of reminds of another failed war we got into back in the 1960's.
Follow Ups:
People all over the world, they're not Americans just struggling to get out of their Asian or Arab skin.
Afghanistan and Vietnam (and just about everywhere else), they're a lot older than us. Let them do things their own way.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
"Let them do things their own way."Amen.
The U.S. and allies had good reason to go into Iraq and Afghanistan initially, but completely lost sight of the point and became totally sidetracked into "nation building". Saddam Hussein invaded our friend Kuwait, so we kicked his ass out. Good. The Taliban tried to take over Afghanistan and was a source of terrorists. Good riddance. (Except that they're still there.)
But twenty years of fighting what amounts to street gangs in Chicago? That's just a losing strategy, from a national military perspective. Let them duke it out amongst themselves.
I say, all y'all can fight amongst yourselves, just don't export it to us, because then, we're going to kick your ass again, and, hopefully, we'll have someone like Trump who will be serious about getting the job done, unlike Bush and Obama, who wanted to play nicey-nice while "fighting" a war.
Now, we've got Biden who wants to play nicey-nice with Iran and China. Eye-yie-yie. He seriously doesn't get it.
The Mideast has been at war with itself for at least a couple thousand years. You'd think that, someday, they'd figure it out. It's not our problem.
