But why pay dealer overhead or take low State buy back prices when in many States they can sell it for more money on Craigslist, gun shows or other gun sale sites? In Arizona a person can sell a gun and all he/she needs to ensure is that the buyer is a resident of the State. It's really easy for someone to buy a gun especially if they don't dicker about paying high prices. I have not looked in a while but a couple of years back it was real easy finding guns used selling for more than the gun sold for new.

Only for junk guns. Folks get between $50 and $250 which is far less than I would sell any of mine for.
Government buy back usually rounds up the junk and broken guns.
People, like you, can sell guns more to those who don't want to have a background check. Like I said here in Az. you can sell your guns to anyone as long as it's a resident of the State.
Why pay a licensed dealer to sell your gun when you can sell it via Craiglist, Backpage, whatever and get more money for it at that?
So my plan calls it voluntary compensation for those who choose not to license their semi-auto and/automatic weapons.
And now agreeing with me that such is completely unnecessary.
One can already sell their undesired weapons. No need for a new government plan to take over normal commerce.
