Nothing about the 10's or 100s of thousands of people who have died of starvation since his death, or about their 500 million net worth, every penny earned by hard work, of others of course. It's called slight of hand.

Correct, it's sleight of hand and not slight of hand. Pretty much the very same as deflection.

...how people like you and tinear seem to think that anyone/everyone with more than a couple dollars more than you should be held financially responsible for those less fortunate--while neither of you can produce evidence that you've ever helped anyone but yourselves. The man that just died and was laid to rest was a military veteran--only a royal by marriage--give it a break already.

Only a royal by marriage? I think not. "Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh (born Prince Philip of Greece and Denmark" And I can't tell you how much I wish that $500,000,000 was just a few bucks more than I am worth, although I'd be quite happy 1% of that. I must say that $30,000 a year to keep 12 horses is quite an impressive amount of altruism. If only I had horses and that kind of money so I could see happy children smile.

personally, I've spent a LOT more $$ than I earned *wink* ... I should have saved more, but you know, spending it seemed like such a good idea at the time ... *damn I can drop coin!*
but in the game of life it's simply poor form to 'flip the board' when you don't think you're winning ... chess too btw ... I've had a lot of success and my share of failure but no regerts! except that savings part ... *damn, can I ever drop coin!*
some people get ahead and stay ahead, no need to begrudge that if it was done on the up and up, relax man
...do people like you think I owe something to anyone? I've made a decent living, but I busted my ass from age 10 to do so. Daddy didn't write me a check.
My education was primarily paid for with ACADEMIC scholarships and partnerships with employers--not throwing or bouncing a ball. I. paid the rest--working.
Yes, I spend a lot of money on "toys"--and you apparently are offended by my horses, but they're mine and paid for--as are the cars.
Just finalizing taxes right now, but my non-profit distributed a little over $1.7M in benefits/services last year, and I'm sitting on over $2.5M to spend this year, and I put in at least $100K per year of my own money.
What have you and tinear done lately? Just asking?
Tired of this--what % do you contribute to achieve this mythical goal?

Well dave, it's said that the 400 richest Americans now own more than the "bottom" 150,000,000 Americans. You either believe in a decent, fair, compassionate we society vs a me society, or you don't. Simple as that.

HE was an English nobleman of comfortable means. He saw what was happening in Russia in the early 20th century, and he feared that he might lose his privilege if revolution found its way to England. It was for this reason that he advocated for a distribution of wealth, not because he felt some burning moral reason to do so. Acting in his own rational self-interest was much more inline with Adam Smith's philosophy that if people acted for themselves, that their wealth would ultimately be redistributed without government intervention. Having said that, there was no Jeff Bezos back then.
No, Mr. Pence, 'The Handmaid's Tale' is not a documentary about the good old days.
"there was no Jeff Bezos back then."
Ah yes, Bezos. The guy who forced everyone to buy from his company, against their own free will. Much like Sam Walton. Nobody wanted to buy from either of them - it was all done by force. Not.
Now I'm reminded of Joe Kennedy. If you wanted booze, he was the only game in town. John, Teddy, and Robert went on to become fine upstanding wealthy career politicians, and advocates for the poor. (Well, at least they pretended to - as long as they remained uber wealthy themselves.)
And let's not forget our good buddy Bill Gates and his sidekicks. At least his competitor Steve Jobs had the sense to not license his operating system to every Tom, Dick and Harry.
Wealth envy. Hundreds of millions of votes have been cast because of it.

As usual, you comment on one very small snippet of text that is totally irrelevant to the overall message. Thank you for never changing who you are.

Oh!
You already noticed.

I don't know who you're quoting or where those numbers come from. In any case, are you saying that Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Oprah Winfrey, Martha Stewart, the Kennedy clan, Barbra Streisand, George Clooney, the Pelosi's, et. al., are all too filthy rich and should be forced to give up most of their wealth so the government can redistribute it more "equitably"?
Or, are you saying that the 50 percent or so of Americans who receive some kind of government assistance (aka welfare), should get their act together?

In any case, what do you think should be done about these rich people?

Too bad about all the inbreeding, but nothing is perfect.
Even the inbreeding has caught on though, with... different... results in the big scheme of things.

The Tsar, the King and the Kaiser were all cousins.
Just saying.
KP
But he wasn't George V or cousin to the Kaiser.
