Note that "The Supreme Court has ruled that pretextual stops are constitutional..."
I'm not a fan of "big-Brother" running around everywhere with cameras, plate-readers, or facial-recognition tech, but it is legal (according to the SCOTUS), and if "something" shows-up, it is probable cause/justification for an encounter with law-enforcement.
Again--I'm not saying that there aren't biased or rogue law-enforcement officers out there that abuse their authority/position, but they are acting within their legal rights, as defined by the SCOTUS.
I've been on this planet for nearly 65 years, and have never been approached by law-enforcement for "no apparent reason", nor has any encounter been "confrontational" or fatal--I'm still here.
"So I talk to the night, I head for the light, try and hold it on the road. Thank God for the man who put
the white lines on the highway"--a very dear friend for decades Michael Stanley (Gee)--RIP
