Liquid Sky didn't get much exposure but it's pretty damn freaky
a pretty satisfying telling of Phillip K. Dick's Through A Scanner Darkly can be had in the semi-animated flick featuring Keanu Reeves & Robert Downey Jr. ,,, though it really deserved a true budget and roll out
I've got plenty more great scifi flicks in my library
I thought Pandorum with Dennis Quaid was good enough for repeated viewing

you can buy a faithful recreation of the Fairlight program at the embedded link for use with a midi controller keyboard
or, copy / past a software based version to play with as 'donation' ware
[basically freeware that begs for $$ from time to time]

I was so lucky to get this - I had it hovering in the back of my mental shopping list for about 20 years.
There are some amazing phone based sampling and processing apps available. But they still take a lot of skill to make anything vaguely worth listening to!

Getting quite OT, but this talented NZ artist, Kimbra (known from Somebody I Used To Know) is one who can capture, edit, sequence, all on the fly. Clever.
