That's.....Bug Of The Day.
A Praying Mantis. Neighbor called me down and I took a couple shots. Fierce animal and I suspect nearly anything in its size category ends up a meal.....
I wish I owned a true Macro Lens.
I had NEVER seen one around here before yesterday.
Too much is never enough
Follow Ups:
This would be the cute ass cousin ;-)

I suspect that a full-size Praying Mantis will attack without hesitation and than EAT that little 'cute' bug.
Some of the videos are Grusome. Even a WASP succumbed to the charms of a Mantis.
Too much is never enough
They do eat their mates straight after or even during mating, so what the hell is wrong with eating the kids.

Cute, but watch out!! You never know about those cute ones.
That's Cousin of Bad Ass Bug of The Day:
Snapped this a few weeks ago on our storm door.
Watch this...

...centipede
My ninth birthday I got one and at my birthday party we collected bugs for it.
Green ants, jumping jacks, about 6 big arse bulljoe ants and two scorpions.
Then we all sat in a ring around the Bug Catcher and watched.
It was very entertaining!

we got my niece, the Animal Lover a computer program for her fun birthday.
It was 'Jurassic Zoo' AND a Regular Zoo.
You could make up whatever zoo you wanted.
So? What does this little terror do? PUts LIONS in with the T-Rex......
Too much is never enough
How many lions to kill the T-rex?
Or, how many lions could the T-rex kill before it got tired of it?

Female lions are more likely to cooperate, I think, than Males, who look at another male as a threat.
I don't know the results of the Niece's experiments.....
Lions are probably more agile close-in, than the 'Rex. Maybe they could get around back and leap up on its back?
I would say that a motivated pride of 6 to 8 lioness should put a dent in the Rex's good day.

There are no fierce bugs in northern Europe.
Except hornets but they are a protected species and destroying a nest gets you a €50 000 fine.
So mature ;-)

As a child I did scoop up a small anthill with a shovel, plonked it on top of another and watched the resulting chaotic war.
Years later I blew cannabis smoke into an ant colony with a straw during lunch at work to see what would happen.
They went mad for a minute and then to sleep. Didn't seem to cause any long term harm though. ;)
LOL!
At least that's a bit more like what we'd expect here ;-)

Thats even MORE grusome than the vid I saw of a Mantis snagging a Hummingbird out of the air.
How stupid WAS that lizard?
Too much is never enough
Didn't work out too well, did it.
The problem is not that there is evil in the world, the problem is that there is good. Because otherwise, who would care?
Just gross......Almost feel sorry for the lizard.
I have several lizards in my yard and they are good guys. The new crop of little ones will learn I'm not after 'em and eventually get curious.....
Even the largest of the lizards around here are no match for a Mantis.....
Too much is never enough
I took a Pic of this one in Hawaii a couple years ago. The island of Molokai. I put my hand in the Picture, so that you could see it's actual size.

Looks like a big one.
Good to see they're not extinct yet ;-)
