here's my contribution to cute pix for the day. I saw the turtle and the ducklets and their mom on the log and took a couple pix. Then one hopped on. Bingo. haha.

all the best,

It was a lucky catch yesterday. I was just glad to see them hanging out together and really glad when jr hopped on. "f8 and be there", as they say. I suspect that if the kid had been within striking distance, and if that turtle was hungry, it might have ended badly. I wish dad wood duck had been around. He's pretty spectacular. One of my favorites to see there. Here's what he looks like, if you're unfamiliar. This one was at a hotel in San Diego a few years back. I don't see many here on the river. Occasionally, though. I think I'll head back down there today.

That could be a poster of some sort, it's so good!
I'm assuming that ducks instinctively know the difference between painted and snapper? If not, it might be duck for dinner the next time he hops on for a ride.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

Made my morning, its almost 9am and still minus 2C, but I'm all togged up and off soon to do battle with the remaining 3 star pickets at son 1's place.

...looks so calm.
Did she remain so?
How long did the duckling ride the turtle?
Thanks for sharing that.
Great picture of a fun moment.

Saved to "Nature" photo file, many thanks.
Less cute. I felt bad for the turtle.
