Kiwis (New Zealand) blow past the Oracle boat with ease..
Seems the Americans just do not have the speed the Kiwis have.
Either some secret in the sails, or hydroplanes?
The Oracle boat now has five days to find and fix the lack of speed.
One interesting moment was the Kiwi boat camera showed ALL the metrics on the onboard computers over the air..
I would think this is a bonanza of info for the competition all around.
These boats are totally amazing craft. Particularly the quick turns. wow.
The Kiwis so far, deserve to win. We'll see if the Oracle boat can fix it's woes..
Follow Ups:
Those aren't really boats. They're more like bobsleds with sails.
The contraptions are way to dependent on hydraulic fluid, and are not really that seaworthy.
Saw 'em some time ago in SF doing some practice runs and taking 'whales' out for a spin.
Horrible fog coming in and it was Cold and Very Windy.
Too much is never enough
Boat Speed...Boat Speed...Boat Speed
The Kiwi's made their share of mistakes however boat speed and almost flawless boat handling wins every time.
Spithill could have won the last race if he had been more aggressive at the start. They also miscalculated wind speed and had the wrong daggerboards for the conditions.
Uncle Larry (Larry Ellison) is probably on it right now. I am a big fan of Larry Ellison and everything Oracle. :)
