"Wait till you see the collection of Parasites working Civil Service."
All ya gotta do is go to the Post Office, stand in line for 5 or 10 minutes, and observe the employees, then go to Fedex and do the same. Or (and this is much harder for the average person to do), hang around at some government office regularly. I worked on a lot of Fed projects for many years, in multiple facilities, and you would not believe the slackin' time that goes on. Yet, the rest of us pay their retirement pension and life-long health insurance.
I'm way ahead of President Trump on this point: He said we could cut the Federal workforce by ten percent, and it would still function just fine. Heck, I said that 30 years ago!
And, it's not limited to the Federal Govt., either. Local, county and state is just as bad. A lot of these people are just putting in their time, waiting for that 25 years of "service" to kick in so they can keep getting that paycheck and health insurance while they go on vacations for the rest of their life!
Anyway, BulletHead, whatever you do, don't go work for UPS or Fedex - talk about bustin' your butt! And, don't go work for a "huge industry" computer job, like banking, airlines, stock brokerage, etc. You could not pay me enough to work on those computer systems - I need to sleep, too!
:)
Follow Ups:
If you are a REAL Work-A-Holic, I'd recommend going into business for yourself. Work next 10 years on something killer than sell whole thing for 500 million or whatever than retire somewhere under an assumed name.
NOBODY gets rich working for someone else.
I had an idea at my company. I just went ahead and DID it in tune with the maintenance guy who knew how do do what I suggested. We saved a LOT of product which would have otherwise gotten scratched. In semiconductors, scratches are a 'killer defect'.
AFter getting grilled for a while, (edge of hostile) I was FINALLY given a 50$ (FIFTY DOLLAR) gift Certificate to a local mall. Process changes are always approached gingerly, but I didn't consider what I did a process change (it wasn't) but rather making a machine work properly.
Too much is never enough
