I have several of the plastic type with a pull out pour spout. Most spouts leak some gas after they are used a few times. I have several old metal gas cans including a Jerry or Jeep can with a good metal spout. It is a bit clumsy to use due to it's size and weight. I think we are stuck with the plastic ones now. I suppose you might find a better metal can at a car parts swap meet or on ebay?
Follow Ups:
I have a couple outstanding plastic gas cans that are a couple years old so the plastic is not the real issue for me. The most recent ones I've seen have a crazy spring loaded contraption in the twist and pull-down spout for venting and to release the gas.
I'm looking for a better design. A couple folks have posted a possible solution with a trigger pull mechanism that looks promising and better than anything I've seen in my local stores.
