I refuse to put up with this gooberment nanny-ism.
Scrounge flea markets, yard sales, swap meets, etc. for old fashioned gas cans in decent condition. Failing that, use an old resealable container meant for oil, coolant, or the similar and carry a plastic funnel that will allow you to add gas to almost anything. One of those long plastic funnels that were intended for adding automatic transmission fluid makes the job a piece of cake.
Cheers,

Federal eco nanny-ism have made simple gas cans impossible to buy in the USA. Canada, maybe. Or used on eBay. Every store I visited had gas cans with ridiculous venting contraptions in the spout.
