Quit my job today, I feel 1000% healthier already. Like getting rid of a demon.
Follow Ups:
Success goes to those who dare and act, they say. I feel you will have a much less stressful job soon. Meanwhile go on walking tours with groups in Manhattan.
All the best

I hope this turns out to be a good decision and you find happiness in whatever you do next.
Best wishes.

There's a difference between hating what you do and hating where you work. It's worth trying to figure out when it's time to decide what to do next. Of course, if you've always had a dream, just go do it. If not, time for a pizza!
Best of everything to you, Bullet.
Thanks, was at the UPS store at the crack of dawn, had a dream about my IT support guy escorting me out. I shipped out two old really old laptops I used to work from home back to the company,
I might have to not work in Manhattan anymore, it was a pestilence that when you have a smoke break you feel your life is threatened, and this is midtown, the UN is right there with their drug dealers and prostitutes, a total sewer of a hell, I will hide out in my compound for awhile until I figure out what to do next. I appreciate the well wishes, thank you very much.
Hopefully, you insured them.
But, speaking of pizza, maybe you ought to start a pizza place. Hey, what could be better than free pizza whenever you want it?
:)
Yes they were, shit my blood pressure dipped already, feel dizzy.
Open your windows and let the light in. Congrats!
Life's too short to waste.
Success and a better way's just around the corner.

It was time to shit or get of the pot.
Now its time to take the Aveo for a good spin. get out of the city, or not.
So much time, so little ? Hey, have fun out there.
bullethead-
what is your trade or occupation?
hi, it was database management, big data sense maker, and visualizing IT.I'll be happy to be working now for the USPS. Either that or be a drug dealer.
I've had it with the stress, sure the money was nice, but not worth dying for.

Are you going to stay in the same field or try something different?
In 89, I left the company I was working for and started my own (very) small company writing software, typically on a project basis. In addition to working from home, I was able to pick which jobs I would take, usually depending on my impression of the individuals I would be interfacing with. It allowed me to avoid what I thought could be stressful experiences. In retrospect it was a good experience, much better than working for a company although I should have been pickier.
One thing that I did when considering my options was to think about what a typical day would be like. This drove me to avoid developing a product which would have resulted in a lot of my time performing non technical tasks.
I am not sure what I am going to do yet, I didn't even file for unemployment yet, I resigned due to stress.
I'm going to take a break, maybe 1 year or so before I figure out what to do. I really respect Federal jobs, even though the pay would probably be a little bit more than I was making I feel a duty to help the nation. I'm not sure yet. I was working for the love of the job, not the money, however after I began throwing up multiple times in the morning from the stress, came down with high blood pressure, even tried benzos as a last resort, but after all is said and done I had to call it quits.
I'm very fortunate I can take a year or 6 months off as a break.
Friends had told me that about retirement, it takes a while to find your way, to determine what you want to do with your time. And so many options.
Studs Terkel wrote a book called Working, each chapter a short interview with someone about their job, from CEO's to prostitutes, oh wait, those can be the same..., well he did interview a wide range. It is quite dated now, still found it fascinating.
Enjoy your time off, keep us posted on what you decide to do.
Drug dealing is a very stressful job. Try jigalo.

For some reason I think you should consider IT support for the elderly ( no offense to posters here) as a volunteer or business. You'd be good at it and your customers would appreciate you. A great recipe for happiness.
Don't do it BH! "Appreciation" doesn't pay the bills or put money into a retirement account! Leave that to the big money "non-profs". You gotta make a living.

When I retired 14 years ago my blood pressure dropped from 148/94 to 116/67 in a matter of weeks - no meds involved.
Retiring and quitting are two completely different things.A relative retired. She's happy and havin' fun, living off the government (taxpayer) pension money.
I, on the other hand, QUIT, and have made my living and my retirement savings one project at a time.
That's a not-so-subtle difference.

It depends on how hard you work. Inmate, you deserve it, as does she.
It all levels off at the end of our program. Just don't need to expire because of it. I remember lighting something called M80s in the 80s during Independence Day, sort of the same as that effect. WOW, how did that happen? SURPRISE, as the clown hat gets put on.
Ha! I used to bury those things and blow them off in a snowbank when I was a kid. That was back when you could buy fuse at a local hobby store.
:)
Got the Psycho Realm on the Sonos, yes. I feel better. Thanks for the warm wishes .
...but don't stay idle for long: idleness is a tool in the devil's workshop...or something like that.
Yes. I understand that point, very cool. Cool headed now.
I quit my last job 30 years ago.Never looked back, although the security of a steady income has its appeal.
And trust me, November can include some sleepless nights.

Yes it does , not worth dying early for...
Thanks to all for the support, don't worry I will not post too much now that is all said and done, haha!
It does help when you have F-U money to lean back on. Best of luck, ease up and enjoy.
Shall you start your own operation?

I love making other people rich when they take care of me, my own operation would rival Alex Jones and put me in an early grave, so I will look for other options before that, don't want to harm the matrix, it gives us all a sense for security. However fragile that may be.
when they're in state of shock, calm and collective. But it will wear off once the reality sets in.
Take a deep breath and get your affairs in order right away just in case if it will take longer than you had anticipated to find another job.
Hopefully you'll find a workplace that is fun and motivating.
