So have I,
the film is about a journey home to their roots for one or two aboriginal girls right into the outback. The fences in the title run along the central borders of NSW, SA, NT, Qld, WA, and Victoria, they are very very long. and you have to follow them to move. Not like the aboriginals did - which was along the water holes.
We have next door neighbours where the Mum is part Aboriginal/Chinese, from far north Queensland, the dry part, where the real rednecks are. They are the best neighbours we have ever had. Close and they know us well, but we are not in their main circle of friends, we don't miss parties though. Her sister is the principal advisor on aboriginal affairs to a state government.

Peter Gabriel, as you no doubt are aware. Interesting story, too.I think I read something in the paper the other day that the director got himself into a bit of a pickle with that movie and another (name escapes me) and he ended up having to make the two at virtually the same time. He did not enjoy the experience.
