I have an older SR 80, bought vs the 60 because I felt that if I could get that much noticeably better sound, to my ears, for about the price of a CD or 2, I should get the better one. I should probably go try a 225 or something 'just to make sure I got the right one'. So... which gredeaux did you get, Josh?

I listened to the 225is but didn't think they sounded as good. That said, I was listening specifically to the built in headphone amp on the bel canto DAC 2.5, which is all I have for headphone listening. It's quite good actually, but probably not at the same level as dedicated headphone amps. To me it was an easy choice to save the $100 and get the 80s. My wife has the AKG240 Studios. Same price and also very nice. Not quite as lively and punchy, but perhaps more neutral with stronger bass. I like both of them and it's nice to have two sets that are both nice but sound different.
Uh-oh! Did I just make an audio-related post in Central?
