Now in addition to Ford's diesels, "With its new 4 liter V8 Audi follows BMW's lead in cramming the twin turbos, exhaust manifolds, and catalytic converters into the block's valley and reversing the engine's traditional airflow pattern, now from the sides into the middle. All this is done to shrink the overall package and concentrate the hot parts in order to take maximum advantage of the exhaust energy."

Sorry, I'm easily entertained with car stuff, and still waiting for electric valve actuation that will allow infinitely variable valve timing and lift with greatly reduced parasitic loss.
Follow Ups:
Why electric valve trains? Go the F1 route and use pneumatics. They are revving V8 motors to 20 thousand RPMs with no problem!
A few months ago I was offered a free subscription to C&D, R&T, and Pop. Mech., so I "bit". I thought the article about Audi, and how they keep getting "penalized" (to make things more fair for the competition), and yet keep winning, was fascinating! (Or maybe that was in Road & Track...)I found the article regarding the delta wing Indy car to be equally interesting!
Car & Driver sure has changed since my last subscription (late 90's)....
