I measured the drivers impedances and vintage Altec 802D (Heathkit version) with original Altec diaphragm had resonance frequency of 390Hz while early 24 Ohm Altec 288c with new GPA 16 Ohm dias measured whole 100 Hz more at around 500Hz. I read posts claiming that small format 802D can actually play lower than 288C but never took them seriously but it appears to be true. At least in domestic settings.
Follow Ups:
I guess I have to inquire at GPA.
Yeah, it's definitely worth asking.

all the best,

I asked and didn't get a clear answer. Bill was confused. He is not familiar with measuring software and he probably misunderstood what I was asking him about since he said that resonance should be around 2KHz and it depends on horn anyway. It is what it is.
Maybe the new GPA unit will lower after breaking in, and the old
802 has lots of miles on it, lowering fs, but if Al. work hardens
and gets brittle, the opposite could be true?.
