The photo you showed in your first post match up with Dixielander, not the JR version.
I agree they could be fun! If you have the room, make them an offer!
My brother built a single, roughly copied, back in the 60's. It was lively and had some pretty good bass if memory serves. I still have a few odd shaped pieces of plywood scrap kicking around here that were part of it.
