Is that a full episode? And it apparently doesn't start to play until it's fully loaded, and it's been a couple minutes already, still saying "Loading". Still, I can be a patient guy. :)
LOL yeah I saw that as well. They have missed some valuable hifi pieces over the years. The only thing I saw them pick was the Scott tube gear and I think AR speakers.
High sensitivity, wide dynamic range, low distortion, and smooth frequency response. Pwk
Did anyone see the episode of this guy that had this huge house/shop full of vintage gear. And he wouldn't sell a thing. They walked downstairs into basement and just scrolled past his vintage theater section. He could of had half a million $ worth of Western Electric who knows. All you saw was this huge pile of horns and stuff. There is a lot more goodness to come. There is many hoarders still alive. This guy wasn't old either. Love that show. Frank Fritz is such a low balling tight A I wouldn't sell him anything.
A new show Big Brain The fortune Seller another real Ahole but in all fairness I think being so is a prerequisite to be able to do his job doing estate sales. Wow I wish we had estate sales like they feature over here. That is where a bargain can be found. Inheritors selling of the parents and relatives life collections not knowing anything about them. One of the employees even heads out in the yard with a metal detector to look for buried treasure to sell. How much fun would that be.
I have always done some picking since I was about 8. My mom would hold a big sale every year it got so large it became city wide and they brought in vending trucks. I would pick garbage, shop sales, wheel deal and then sell my pile at moms sale. I still look for deals, today it will be a huge pile of vintage JBL PA with alnico drivers. Someday I will be the old man others pick;) My homes over flowing with horns loudspeakers collectibles. I have been talking with other local collector friends about starting a museum. We have enough gear. They also have buildings so it could happen in the next few years.
Thats it Kloss we all will be somebody Else's pick in the end. I hope my family has the sense to ebay my stuff as long as it goes in vintage electronics it will find its value but chances are it will be a yard sale. My old man had me at Auctions as soon as I could walk. I have been collecting crap ever since. Lately I have just been spending all night on ebay which I am starting to realize is really stupid. I need to be getting out looking for stuff at the right price. Or at least searching on line newspapers and other selling places other then ebay. I feel especially dumb when I find an expired cached add on a local on line classified for some item that I have watched or am watching for 3 times the price on ebay which happens with pa as you know. I bet the margins are ever higher in the US where vintage pa is so much more common.
Youse guys. :) I wish I had the time and the money to go around scarfing up cool stuff at a right price. I really need to make an effort to do it at least now and then. In the meantime, my family knows full well the value of all the stuff I've bought and keep forever. I can't think of one single thing that I bought that I've ever sold, except for a couple of tape decks and a couple pairs of mics, and that was 30 years ago. I'm still kicking myself for selling my mint E-V 664 mics - not that I'd still use them, but hey, they're a part of audio history!
"we all will be somebody Else's pick in the end."
Ha, ain't that the truth. Go ask the Pharoahs. :)
