He got $7200 for the crossover! This may be a new high, or low depending on how you view it, for Western Electric (not in absolute dollar terms). Use the link below and scroll down a little.

Very sad... Hopefully one person bought everything and kept it together.
High sensitivity, wide dynamic range, low distortion, and smooth frequency response. Pwk
Western component parts frequently sell for more than the whole system. I should consider this a fortunate practice, because my own system utilizes a Western Electric 713b driver and KS-12025 horn in a otherwise modern system; those had to come from complete systems.
Not necessarily I collect restore vintage most items I find are not complete originals but just a few parts. Far more parts about than complete working original loudspeakers.
to both price and construction. That's a lot of oil filled caps! Reminds me of the Heathkit Legato which used two 16 inch Altec woofers and the 802 horn, IIRC. The crossover looked like a little amp: all coils and oil filled caps.

Shame to destroy a ultra rare vintage loudspeakers just to profit. Now 1 less WE 757 about. And for what? Just to pile the parts on a display shelf or store in closet basement or garage? Maybe someone will use the parts to get theres up and running but saddly I dont think this is happening. Like vultures to a carcass everyone wants a part of WE. Also this will make more part out there vintage WE loudspeakers since crazy money may be had. Well just makes the original WE worth that much more since now another original has bought the dust.
To put it into perspective, that one speaker sold for 6 months pay to the average person in the U.S. It’s a lifetime of earnings in some places.

I am fairly sure the Mona Lisa is worth more whole than in parts
So why not part out mom? Those kidneys are worth more than the whole;) I have a few loudspeakers in my hands that are worth twice as much or more in parts than as a whole. But for me the value of owning a original classic has more value than just cash. And with the great destruction of classics that's going on today ends, my originals may have greater cash value. Plus I didn't destroy something that has historical value kept something classic original for future owners to enjoy. We do die after all and historical rare classics are really only in our care for a short time. If all thought as you we would have no classic cars motorcycles art vintage anything most would be destroyed for profit.
