Is anyone using Tekton speakers with a 45 or 2A3 amp (2-3.5W)? If so, which speakers and how well are they driven? I am primarily concerned about distortion and micro- and macro-dynamics. Loud will not be a problem as my room is quite small (3x4M).
Observe, don't think
Follow Ups:
I have a pair of the Pendragons and am running at the moment a Don Allen 45 and it sounds fabulous in a large room. No distortion at all and the imaging and sound stage and tonality is really nice. Huge soundstage and real live like qualities. I have had the Lores also and in a small room or nearfield they would be perfect for your needs and would sound great with a low wattage amp.
Another good low watt amp to consider would be the Decware Mini torii or the new Decware SE 34.3. The Mini torii is quite nice and I soon will have the new 34.3 also. The Mini torii is amazingly accurate with tone and timbre and I found it very similar to the Don Allen 45, but with a few extra watts.
Good luck on your decision.
I use the M-lores with a WE421A-based amp (4 watts) in a room with sloping 16 foot ceilings and an odd 14 x 22 foot room. They sound wonderful.
I have the little 4.5 Tekton's about 93db and drive them with a 45 and a 2A3 amp. They are amazing!....They give me about 90% of what my Large Horn System does. At $500 a pair they were a steal.

Which Tekton 4.5's do you own? The bookshelves, or the OB's? IF the OB's, did you get the optional subwoofers with them? Thanx.
I've got the Little Bookshelves.

I drive my Lores and Katz Meow V1s (Fostex main driver) with a DIY 2A3 integrated amp based on the WE91A (6C6 drivers and I use JJ 2A3-40 tubes). I'm in a 12' x 13' room 9' high.
I prefer my Manley Integrated, just sounds a little fuller. But the 2A3 sounds good as well. I don't notice any distortion until I drive it into the lower 90 dbs, maybe mid 90s? Dynamics to me aren't much different than the Manley I suppose. I have wondered if I am missing something with the integrated, no active preamp with either the 2A3 or Manley Stingray.
My gut tells me that if you have a very good 2A3 (I don't consider mine to be) then you will enjoy the Tektons with it.
Is your 6C6-2A3 amp a Min creation? He has built many of these amps, some of which have received rave reviews (go figure) and positive comments about the build quality.I received one of his "kits", but it was missing a host of components, did not include my custom requests and the chassis layout so poor that I have decided to pull it down (was ~90% complete) and scratch build. I could not look at the thing without feeling disappointed; despite my limited experience I could have done better with my first build.
I have seen the underside of one of his completed builds in a larger chassis, with more appropriate component selection - this was better, but not great.
My guess is that a 6C6 driving a 2A3, with well thought out power supply, operating points, component selection and build quality can be very nice... I will see in the next month or so.
Cheers.

Yes, mine was also a "Kit" from Min. I had only 1 problem in that the holes for the power tranny were drilled for another tranny, so I just drilled a couple more holes (5 minutes). Everything else was spot on exactly as he and I discussed.
Yours is the only post I've ever seen regarding Min that wasn't glowing, although others may be out there.
I've never had the opportunity to compare my amp to another similar (300b, another 2A3, etc.), and I have always wondered just how good it is.
Perhaps my expectations were high and Min had an off moment. He was fine to deal with and I would likely ask him to resolve some issues, were I not on the other side of the world.
I have learned much from the build and am now looking forward to building an amp that can be more ideally laid out and utilise a better grounding method, can run all film caps, fit the NOS PIO caps for screen bypass that are supposed to be important and use 300B tubes at low dissipation.
Cheers.
