I'm looking for my first high efficiency speakers (95 dB/watt or greater). My room will bass overload with speakers that have strong bass output below 50-60 Hz, though. So I need something bass-light, too.I have three PP tube amps with 8, 10 and 30 watts per channel, respectively. These new speakers would naturally best fit the 8 and 10 wpc ones.
My budget is about $1K. My current shortlist: Zu Omen Bookshelf, Hoyt-Bedford Type 1, Pi Speakers Model 1, Tekton Mini Lore. I'm leaning towards the Zu or Hoyt-Bedford.
Any experiences with these? Other suggestions, advice? Obviously the speakers need to be able to play well with PP as opposed to SET ...

How about selling a few amps and generating some cash?
If you can up your budget you should look at the used market for some Lowther offerings, and Cain and Abbey, as well as other single driver speakers.

I drive Cain & Cain Abbys with my 10 watt Sophia Baby.
