Any source that comes out of the analog outputs of the Oppo has taken full advantage of its DACs. In fact, there is no special "USB DAC;" it is just a USB input for the internal DAC used for all sources.

Definitely recommended - the only reason not use the 105 as a DAC is if you've got a 205.

Or, if you have any other DAC! I own the 105 and I prefer any other DAC than the one in my 105. I'm currently using a Mytek Brooklyn Bridge as an external DAC for my 105, but I've used a number of other DACs previously and they all sound better than the internal DAC in my Oppo BDP-105D.

The big advantage of the Oppos is that they can provide a multichannel output via HDMI. Very few "other" DACs can do that.
Dave
Why would they? HDMI is digital and if any "DAC" output digital, it would not be a DAC.
