Have you checked the power management setting on your computer? It sounds to me that you may have the default Windows USB power setting selected. This turns off the USB out to an external device after a while (while you are streaming the computer thinks it is idling).Go to Control Panel/Hardware & Sound/Power Options. Then select your power setting, open it and select "Change advanced power settings", then "USB Settings" expand it and look at " USB Selective Suspend Setting".

Hmm. Checked that all USB auto-off settings were disabled for both on AC power and battery, and still getting frequent cut-outs when warmed up. I'm having a feeling it's something internal :(

Yes, having eliminated the computer's auto USB shut off it now seems that some kind of protection device is being triggered. That could, of course, be expected if the warm up was an extreme version of "warm". However I am sure that you would have noticed.
I can only suggest that you contact Benchmark to see if they have any advice.
