Hi Folks,
So, I've got my system restarted after a long period of hibernation. I had 2 disc players, an old Sony multidisc 555, and a newer Yamaha DVD/SACD player. I've been using the Yamaha casually for a couple of years, works ok, but the transport is LOUD. I thought I'd hook up the Sony, but something happened to it and it screeches now and does nothing much after.
So, I have quite a few non hybrid SACD's, several hybrids as well, so I'd like something that plays those. So far I see Marantz's $$$ options, Yamaha has 3, Denon has 1, and that's about it. I know there's DCS, Esoteric etc, but if I can't swing the Marantz. Used, not really an option for a disc player as far as I'm concerned. As far as budget, I really don't know yet since I don't know if there's a one box solution or if I need at least two.
So, what's the best strategy to play all my discs, and get a dac for streaming? I'm pretty sure the Marantz 10 has a useable dac, not sure about the KI (RIP) Ruby, or the Yamahas. I'm hesitant to use another DVD drive because of noise, but if anyone knows of a quiet DVD/UDP that plays SACD's, can use as a transport and allows use of the dac for streaming (I know it's a tall order) let me know.
Follow Ups:
It's not a popular option and does involve a moderate amount of interesting work and stepping in to a grey area...but I picked up a PS3 and just stream SACD from the PC.
The Yamaha S1000 is fabulous if you want to play 2-ch SACDs, or of course, CDs. It's very quiet and amazing sound. It'll play up to DSD64. It has optical and analog outputs.
And I must say the light switch-style on/off switch is extremely satisfying.

There were some older players that had chipset that could be easily hacked to extract DSD files for computer streaming; search the archives for more info. Once you get the files, you're not tied to a spinner for playback, and there are a lot of excellent DSD DACs that are pretty cheap.
I ripped all my SACDs and use a TEAC DAC. My cheap Pioneer spinner I use solely to extract files will likely last as long as SACDs are going to be made.
Technics has new SACD player out, the SL-G700. It has digital inputs, and goes for about $3K. The Ruby also has digital inputs.
There may be others out there too.

Man, that looks like the BIG Swiss Army knife, the one that comes with a spoon!
I've never had any Technics gear before (well, I had an sl something TT years ago) but that looks like what I'm after. $2500 is still $$$, but for a one box that looks like it would let me use my SB Touch, and has a RC headphone amp as well it looks great. I'll put it high on the list.
Thanks
.
There are very inexpensive sony combo players bluray/sacd/cd available.
I have used them, the sacd analog out playback is not bad.
There must be something wrong with me for not having something wrong.
The Marantz SA14 is much less expensive than the SA10. It has several digital inputs and will play DSD files (but not the highest resolution ones).
Actually it seems that the SA14 is no longer available. You may be able to find one used.....e.g.. if I decide to upgrade to the SA10.
Indeed, I will be sending back the SA14 and keeping the SA10 that I have now for evaluation.
So a used SA14 may be available soon at Music Direct. But I notice that they also have on sale
a new SA-K1 Ruby for $3200. Probably that would have been fine for me, but I don't want to send back the SA10. The SA10 works very well with Audirvana (including Tidal), better than the SA14, and I imagine that the Ruby will match the SA10 in that regard.
