Some questions...what is the Knurled Knob thing for? Well, would be a knurled knob but its gone and just the nut is there locked tight. Also, I have read yay and nay about it needing "regular" amp power. Tried in the headphone jack of my cd player and cranked up the output all the way and while I could hear both sides it was very low in volume.Have to decide if these are worth keeping or not for $9.95...

Hi---
If they were complete, with the connection box it would be a screaming deal for $9.95. As another responder said, you need the connection box.
The Koss ESP-6 stereophonic were electrostatics that ran in self energized mode. It took part of the audio signal and created bias voltage for electostats. Because of this, you couldn't listen softly for too long, unless you periodically would raise the volume.
They do require a fair amount of drive, so speaker level output are necessary. One thing to watch out for is the connection box ties the grounds of both speakers together, which for some amps kills them.
I had a friend who had a set in the 70s, and I felt they were good electostats for it's day. In those days I had a set of Koss ESP-9s. I ended driving them with a Marantz 2270.
Best of luck---
Jerry
If it's an electret headphone, it will need step up xfmrs. likely in the switch box.
Knob on earcup is for an optional mic. that attaches there...
you won't use it anyway. So, it seems you're missing the connection box...about the size of
a pack of cigarettes. It takes a speaker level input from your amp, and
sends it to the headphones, and the box routes the signal to the speakers,
which can be switched on/off at the box. So I guess try a speaker
level output signal for starters. Good find.
