I don't know that I've ever been so moved by the making of music.

I sent a link to this thread to my former boss at Steinway (a wonderful guy), and he remarked that she was playing a Boston, which is one of the two subsidiary brands (the other brand is Essex) sold by Steinway dealers. The Boston piano is made for Steinway in Japan; the Essex is made for Steinway in China.
Steinway's sub-brands have those names, I believe, because at one point Steinway's corporate headquarters, as distinct from the famous factory, was in the Metro Boston area; IIRC, Waltham.
Of course, you are right, this video might bring a marble statue to tears.

That's from the excellent series on UK Channel 4 The Piano.
Just unknown amateurs invited to play in public in train stations, without knowing it's an audition for a concert.
This Mika (who I'm not familiar with) and Lang Lang are going to perform at Royal Albert later this year. The dozen or so other pianists and Lucy unknowingly were vying for a spot in the concert. Of course, it's Lucy who will be performing.
Can't wait to view it.

Playing is fantastic.
Whoever made the video, not so much. The 2 hosts, ciao, ditch them, they added nothing, only distracted.
You didn't enjoy seeing Lang Lang, who I happen to think is brilliant, with tears in his eyes? The other fellow I don't know but apparently this is an ongoing show that has featured many pianists in this train station with a "winner" chosen for a prize.
Do watch the final 5 minutes

Yep, brilliant or not, STFU.

Lang Lang looked "young" in that video...... I initially wondered if this maybe took place 10 to 15 years ago.......
By the way, this is not unprecedented...... There is a blind Japanese pianist named Nobuyuki Tsujii ..... Although I do believe unlike Lucy, he does have "limited" eyesight.
Link is the final movement of Chopin's First Concerto..... To say this performance of the final movement is in the same area code as Seong-Jin Cho is maybe the best compliment I can give for any pianist.
The conductor is Shigeo Genda..... I love this conductor, one of my all time favorite "unknown" conductors, he almost never disappoints, put forth a superlative accompaniment from the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra.
I'll show my proletariat roots by mentioning Ray Charles when blind pianists are being discussed.
I dream of an America where a chicken can cross the road without having it's motives questioned.

Stevie Wonder too...........
No... never heard of him, and as I said IMO they only detracted from the video.
Lovely!
one of my favorite pianists is Jimmy Pruett who was blind. His version of St. Louis Boogie from an episode of Town Hall Party (Bear Family Records dvd) always has me on the edge of my seat.
She's incredible, the music magical, the talking heads NOT NOT NOT needed.
They detract from the beauty.
Basically if one is (likely) paid to say something and says "I don't know what to say."
one should really learn to STFU.
To go from such beauty to such twittery in such a short period of time is... nonsense.

He said that he is not her Teacher, Lucy can't be taught. But she is able to learn and his job is to help her learn.
That's a profound realization. One with application throughout any population.
